DEPARTMENT OF ADVANCED ZOOLOGY AND BIOTECHNOLOGY
Department of ZOOLOGY was established as the first science department in Chellammal Women’s College in the year 1976. Department name was converted as ADVANCED ZOOLOGY AND BIOTECHNOLOGY in the year 2010.
Sanctioned students strength of the department is 50. In this department there are four Permanent Assistant Professors and one Professor in Temporary basis. There two Lab Assistants in the Permanent posting. Department and student’s class rooms are in the Balambal Block. Zoology Laboratory which is equipped with sufficient lab facilities is in the Pachaiyappar Block.

SCOPE OF THE COURSE:
Zoology students enter the research area with valuable knowledge of animals and specialized science skills that can be applied to various fields.
BEST PRACTICES:
- Lab visits/workshops organized with an aim to give hands-on training to our students to get familiarise with laboratory equipments and their application techniques.
- Students are given project works relevant to their papers.
- Students are encouraged to organize Inter-Collegiate competitions to impart leader ship quality among young learners.
- Student’s participation in Inter/Intra-collegiate competitions emphasized to bring out their built in inner talents and to develop their self-confidence.
- Feedbacks obtained from the students as well as given back to the students to improve teaching and learning performance.
