Solara Active Pharma will be among the top 10 pure-play global active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) companies in designing and manufacture top-quality commercial APIs across a wide range of therapeutic categories that build significant value for stakeholders, and shareholders committed to protecting human life and the environment. With three decades of exclusive pure-play API manufacturing, Solara Active Pharma has been dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for patients. Hence it was decided that if the students are given an opportunity to visit Solara Active Pharma, the students will be benefited. This trip is Organised by Dr.M.Chitra, Head of Chemistry Department supported by Dr.V.Malarvizhi Principal of Chellammal Women’s College and Pachaiyappa Trust Manangement.
An email requesting for industrial visit was emailed by Head of Chemistry Department to Ms. A. Manonmani, HR, Solara Active Pharma Sciences to visit Solara on 20/02/24 for third B.Sc. Chemistry students of total strength 50 students and four faculty members on 29th February 2024. We received reply from Ms. A. Manonmani (HR) and Mr. B. Daniel granting permission on 22/02/2024. On 29/02/2024, 50 students and four faculty members Dr. M. Chitra(HOD), Dr. S. Ananda Priya, Dr. G. Vimala and Dr. K. Deepa of Chemistry Department assembled in Solara by 9.30 am.
The students were assembled at conference hall by Mr. B. Daniel, HR for a presentation about vision and mission of Solara active pharma sciences. Dr. Rajkumar explained about the safety measures should be followed in the Solara. Dr. Rajesh Vyas, General Manager, R& D elaborated the following topics viz., Flow Chemistry, Chiral Chemistry including Induction/ Kinetic Resolution, Polymer Chemistry Sequestering Agents, High-potent API/ Intermediates etc.,
The students were then divided into four teams with one team comprising of 17 students and one faculty members. The students were guided by Dr. S. Anand, Deputy General Manager about the Flow Chemistry Lab, Process Safety lab, Process Engineering Lab which comprises of column chromatography, gas chromatography, The Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS), Mass spectrometry, UV-Visible spectrometry, Infrared spectrometry, Thermogravimetric analysis, Nuclear mass spectrometry, x-ray diffraction, sonicator etc., The students were provided with tea and biscuits during a break at 11.00 am. This industrial visit was helpful to the students in understanding the different manufacturing processes and procedures, various industrial scale equipment’s used to produce active pharma ingredient. The industrial visit which helps the students to understand the functioning of the industry, provides an insight into the real working environment, provides an opportunity to plan, organize and engage things. A good opportunity to interact with the experts. Students had the opportunity to upgrade their knowledge and skill ability that they benefited a lot from industrial visit and this has also triggered them to explore meaningful acquisition of research and development in pharmaceutical industry.
Followed by industrial visit, students were taken for their entertainment trip to kovalam beach and Muttu Kadu boating place also. Students were enjoyed the trip in happily manner. The trip relevant photos are attached with this report.
