NSS for the year 2023-2024
CHELLAMMAL WOMEN’S COLLEGE NSS REPORT – 2023 -2024
The NSS Activity led by three programme officers Dr M. S. Sumathi Economics Department, Dr. K. Anbarasi, Department of Math, Dr. S. Kanimozhi, Department of Tamil.
In our college we have three units with 100 volunteers for each unit for the year 2023 – 2024. As daily activity, we have managed to clean the college campus every week with NSS volunteers and below are the following activities carried out by the NSS units in collaboration with voluntary & other organizations.
1. WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY – (05-06-2023)
We have started the activity with World Environment Day and it was celebrated on 05/06/2023 with 50 NSS volunteers by creating awareness to public and students through Rally and other activities like tree planting and brochures prepared by volunteers to encourage practices like recycling and conservation of water.
2. INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY – (21-06-2023)
International Yoga Day was celebrated in collaboration with ISHA yoga Foundation and we have organized a workshop with ISHA yoga trainers on 21/06/2023 with nearly 100 NSS volunteers and learnt to do yoga for physical flexibility, strength and improving focus and we completed our day with meditation and breathing exercises to promote mental relaxation and clarity for students.
3. AWARNESS PROGRAMME FOR DRUG ABUSE – (26-06-2023)
Awareness Program for Drug Abuse was conducted by Enforcement Bureau, CID Tamil Nadu and State NSS cell on 26/06/2023 with 50 NSS volunteers and students participated in a rally with slogans to express their views to raise awareness about the causes on Drug Abuse by holding banners to educate people on drug abuse.
4. DRUG AWARENESS PROGRAMME – (11-08-2023)
In addition to the above, another Drug Awareness Programme was taken up with Guindy police on 11/08/2023 with 200 NSS volunteers who participated in the programme and Special Lecture was given by Sub Inspector Mrs. Shanthi to students to create awareness on Drugs with the cases handled by them.
5. DRUG FREE INDIA – (17-08-2023)
On 17/08/2023, 200 NSS volunteers took pledge on Drug Free India campaign with the Guindy Police personals. This movement focuses on raising awareness about the dangers of drugs, educating individuals, and providing support for rehabilitation and recovery. It involves various campaigns, rallies by the NSS student volunteers and events to inspire people to stay away from drugs and live a healthier lifestyle.
6. WALK FOR DRUG FREE INDIA – (05-08-2023)
Walk for a cause 2023 campaign held on 26/08/2023 with 200 NSS volunteers participated in walk organized by the Art of living Foundation Tamil Nadu Government & Anna University.
NSS Volunteers prepared Banners with slogans such as “Say No to Drugs”, “Drugs Ruin Lives”, and “Stay Healthy, Stay Drug-Free” and participated in walking.
This event provided an excellent opportunity for students, faculty, staff and community members to come together in support of common cause, fostering unity and collective action.
This walkathon served as a platform to advocate for stronger drug abuse prevention policies and resources at the Local, State and National levels.
7. HUMAN TRAFFICKING PROGRAMME – (24-08-2023)
A human trafficking programme was held on 24th August 2023 at the University of Madras at 10.00 am. Chellammal Women’s College NSS programme officers attended that programme.
8. WORLD RECORD EVENT – PASIYAATRUVOM – (10-09-2023)
Pasiyaatruvom World Record Longest Human chain to fight against Hunger and it was organized by NBS (Nam Bharadha Sevai & Chellammal Women’s College) held on 10/09/2023 with 200 NSS volunteers participated in the World Record. 9. WORLD CLEAN – UP DAY – (21-09-2023)
World clean-up Day was celebrated with Bhumi Voluntary Organization on 21/09/2023 with 233 NSS volunteers and involved in cleaning the Besant Nagar Beach Area. The volunteers spent the day in cleaning the unwanted plastics, papers, plastic covers and other items.
10. MENSTRUAL WELLNESS AWARENESS PROGRAM – (21-09-2023)
Chellammal Women’s College NSS volunteers participated in Menstrual wellness Awareness Program held on 21-9-2023.This program conducted to aim for menstrual education, Hygiene practices and Sustainable Menstrual Products and knowledge on how to manage menstrual health in a comfortable, healthy, and sustainable way. 100 NSS volunteers participated in the porgramme.
11. PANNAI VIDHAI NADUVOM – (01-10-2023)
Panai Vidhai Naduthal – Save Pannai maram was the theme of the day and nearly 500 Pannai Vidhai sown in the coastal belts of Chennai Beach on 01/10/2023. 100 NSS volunteers participated in this programme and planted the seeds which was organized by Tamil Nadu Government.
12. BREAST CANCER AWARENESS – (01-10-2023)
Breast Cancer Awareness camp was organized by Rotary Club & Sir Ramachandran Hospital on 01/10/2023. Nearly 200 students did the field work and supported for Free Medical Camp patients.
13. HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMME – (08-02-2024)
Health Awareness – Deworming & General Health was organized by Chellammal Women’s College & Tamil Nadu Government on 08/02/2024. The objective of this program is to educate individuals and the communities about maintaining good health, preventing diseases and other health awareness tips and nearly 100+ NSS volunteers participated in this program.
14. NATIONAL SEMINAR ORGANIZED BY MINISTRY TO AYUSH – (13,14-10-
2023)
Significance of Medicinal plants and its Impact on Education system – Two Days National Seminar was organized by Department of Education National Medical Plants Board & Ministry of Ayush on 13/10/2023 to 14/10/2023 with 200 NSS volunteers who participated in the Two Days National Seminar Program. Every individual received certificate on attending these two days seminar program. Below are the photos attached for national seminar program.
15. VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK – (31-10-2023)
Vigilance Awareness Week- Corruption Free India was organized by Chellammal Women’s College & vigilance Department of Tamil Nadu on 31/10/2023 along with 50 NSS volunteers.
16. KHELO INDIA YOUTH GAMES PROGRAMME – (20-01-2024)
Chellammal Women’s College NSS Volunteers participated in KHELO INDIA Youth Games Program on 20-01-2024 along with 150 volunteers. Objective of this program aimed at promoting sports and physical fitness among the youth of India. And to promote spirit of teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline among the youth.
17. GANDHI JAYANTHI CELEBRATION – (30-01-2024)
Gandhi Jayanthi celebration was conducted by Chellammal Women’s College & Tamil Nadu Government on 30/01/2024 with 50 NSS volunteers.
18. ELECTION AWARENESS PROGRAMME – (11-04-2024)

NSS SPECIAL CAMP REPORT – 2023 – 2024
20/03/2024 TO 26/03/2024 (7 DAYS)
DAY 1 – 20/03/2024
On 1st day of the camp we reached the location which was located near Kanchipuram around 11.30 am on 20/03/2024 and made arrangement for the camp activities and also we had inauguration program by our principal Dr.V.Malarvizhi.
The NSS volunteers were divided into five teams and assigned them with tasks like cultural, kitchen, cleaning and other activities. I have attached the images below with each team members.

DAY 2 – 21/03/2024
NSS volunteers were split into three groups and they were all sent to three villages named Arpakkam, vayalur and kavanthandalam to interact with the school students and conducted different programme like sports and academic activities like oratory, Thirukural recitation, and drawing.
13 games were conducted to the school students and winners were selected and to all the winners, were given prizes.
DAY 3 – 22/03/2024
Morning Yoga classes was conducted for NSS volunteers around 11.30 am and afternoon they involved in cleaning the Village School campus.

DAY 4 – 23/03/2024
Special lecture was organized for our NSS volunteers and the topic given was why Organic Farming is a Boon in today’s world. The lecture was given by Mr. Veeraragavan (farmer).

DAY 5 – 24/03/2024
NSS volunteers were involved in cleaning the temples for two villages.

After 3.00 PM, the students went on a rally and created awareness regarding usage of plastic items and its drawbacks. The volunteers also collected the plastic items in and around villages and discarded them.

DAY 6 – 25/03/2024
In Arpakkam village Government middle school, NSS students organized sports event for the students and around 13 games were conducted and winners were selected.

Evening around 3.30 PM, 30 trees were planted in and around the school campus. As conclusion of Awareness programme, cultural Programme was conducted in the school premises. Theme of the programme was women safety & women education.
DAY 7 – 26/03/2024
Special lecture was given by N.S.Udaykumar (Director of Finance, OCS Group) to motivate our students on self employment
NSS special camp was concluded with valedictory function with distribution of prizes to students in Arpakkam middle school and facilitating the village heads, School Head masters, teachers.
