SWACHHTA ACTION PLAN (SAP) – 2022 – 2023

 
Swachhta(cleaniness) has been accorded top priority in India. Swachhta is also a precious lesson that can be learnt in educational institutions as it defines student’s personalities. Teachers and students need to play the lead role in creating awareness on hygiene and hygiene practices in life to improve pure and healthy state. Based on the thoughts, the honorable Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar, Minister for HRD, Government of India adopted Mahatma Gandhi National Council of rural Education(MGNCRE) to work on tools to help higher educational institutions(HEI). Swachhta plan is introduced in HEI to follow campus hygiene parameters along with education. As a part of Swachhta action plan(SAP) a team of five faculty members was constructed from every institution, for water and energy conservation, sanitation, waste management. A recognition certificate also issued by MGNCRE. 
 
Key Objectives of the Swachhta Action Plan.
1. Provide guidance to institutions on various aspects of Swachhta for a clean and green campus through a use of Standard Operating Manual (SOP).
2. Build swachhta skills in students and ensure they take ownership of maintaining Swachh campuses.
3. Ensure Swachh campuses through use of Swachh Campus Manual.
4. Promote healthy competition between institutions to maintain swachhta ratings.
5. Develop a structured curriculum on Environmental Hygiene, Sanitation and Waste Management that is to be offered as an elective paper for UG Courses to widen the scope of job opportunities for degree students.
6. Develop a structured PG Diploma Course for universities/colleges on Waste Management and Environmental Hygiene that will lead to a skilled workforce being available to organizations involved in Swachhta.
7. Develop a structured MBA Programme on Environmental Hygiene and Social.
entrepreneurship for PG students that providing managerial workforce to the organizations involved in Swachhta.
8. Contribute to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by building awareness in universities/colleges through celebration of various days through the year.

Under this plan an online webinar was conducted on the topic of “Environmental Crisis” on 30.05.2022. Dr.M.Jayakumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, University of Madras acted as the chair person. Around 854 viewed the program through youtube and around 20 staff members attended the program through google meet. E- Certificates were issued to the participants those who filled the feedback form. 

A online webinar was conducted to create awareness on intellectual properties rights on 09.08.2022, Dr.Shailendra Singh, Examiner of Patents & Design(NIPAM Officer), Mininstry of Commerce and Industry, DPIIT, Patent Office, Delhi. Around 679 were participated the program and certificates were issued by the NIPAM to all the participants and to our institution for conducting the program.

On the occasion of Gandhi Jeyanthi, Miyawaki forest was created in our college premises in collaboration with Vidhai vithaipom and Central institute of Security Forces (CISF). Nearly 500 plants of different varieties were planted. Around 50 persons from CISF, 20 persons from vidhaivithaipom, 20 staff members and 200 students were participated on that day. Mrs. S. R. Radhakrishna, Chief General Manager, SBI, Thiru.G.Venkataramani, Zonzl Mznzger, LIC, Thiru. B.G.Mallya, General Manager, Southern Railways, Thiru. G.M.Arsari, Commandant, CISF were graced the occasion. Food was served to all the participants by CISF team.

On 08.10.2022 an one day off line yoga training was given to all the volunteers on “ Yoga Payirchi – udal valzkkalai” from morning 11.000 a.m to 4.00 p.m.. Dr. Kalavathi Sekar, Managing Trustee, PALM Trust and Regional Manager of Arivu thirukoil trained the participants. Nearly 70 students participated and benefitted by this program.

A two day offline inter collegiate workshop on Kerala Mural painting and Lipan art workshop was conducted on 3.0.23 & 4.3.23. A trainer from Fevicryl certified professional trainer (pidite) L.Karpagavalli trained the students. Around 50 students from S & A arts and Science College and around 50 students from Chellammal Collge participated in the workshop. Certificates were given by the Fevicryl Company to the participants.

World thinking day, 22.2.23 was celebrated by our Swachhta Action plan committee. A online inter collegiate webinar was conducted along with S.A. College of arts and science on the topic of “IKIGAI- The art of Living, Dr.O.Senthil Kumar, Professor in Chemistry, Ramco institute of technology, Rajapalayam lectured on that topic. Dr.Malathi Selvakumar, DSM- Chennai, MGNCRE, Principal S.A.College of Arts and Science also participated the event. Around 263 were attended the program through youtube and around 40 staff members from S.A College and Chellammal Women’s College were participated through google meet. E certificates were issued to the participants.

An online webinar was conducted to celebrate “The international Women’s Day” on 7.03.2023 on the topic of “சுக்கா மிளகா சுதந்திரம் கிளியே”

with guest speaker Mrs. B.S.Ajeetha, B.L, M.L, Advocate, Chennai High court. This program was live telecasted through you tube and around 204 viewers watched this program on that day.

 

Club Activities on 2022-2023

On 15.08.2022 as a part of CSR activity of HDFC Bank Ltd mini MIYAWAKI forest was created in our college campus. Around 100 saplings of our country native trees were planted on this occasion.

An art competition was conducted on world biodiversity day, best three drawings were selected and the students were given certificates.

The prize winners are

  3. V(B.Com, III Yr) – Third Prize
  4. Poojitha (B.A, English, III Yr) – Third Prize

Ozone day was celebrated on 16.09.22 and awareness slogans and pamphlets were distributed to the students.

On the occasion of “VAR- AGAINST, ENVIRONMENT VALLALAR AWARENESS PROGRAMME – 2022”, an invited talk program was arranged to students to create awareness on the importance POLLUTED Environment INFERTILE Soil  RUINED Water Bodies. Competition of   Paper Presentation,  Poster Presentation, Poem Presentation (Kavithai) were organized along with ENVIS, YATHA GREEN COUNCIL OF INDIA (YGC INDIA) ,THE ROTARY CLUB OF CHENNAI MERAKI DT 3232, IWC MEENAMBAKKAM and PROWIS CORPORATE on 13.10.2022 in Seminar Hall nearly with 100 students both from shift I and Shift II.

DZUM EIACP PC RP Chennai, Taminadu conducted an awareness program on “Life style for environment”on 23.01.2023 Dr.Annapoorani, Senior Program Officer, ENVIS, Mrs. Revathi, Data Entry officer, Mr.Thirumurugan, Mr.Sivamurugan were intiated this event in chellammal college. The program was hels in Chellammal Arangam with nearly 70 students from various departments and the same was tweeted by government MOEF tweet on the same day.
