The event was started with invocation followed by Welcome address delivered by Head of the Department Dr.M.Chitra \u2013 Convener of the event. The Principal Dr. V. Malarvizhi, Associate Professor, Department of Physics \u2013 Chief Patron of the event delivered Presidential address where she inspired the students through her visionary thoughts. The Coordinators of the event are Dr.C. Revathi and Mrs.Z. Ayesha Siddiqha. The Organizing Committee members of the event were Dr. S. Anandapriya, Dr. G.Vimala and Dr. K.Anusuyadevi.<br \/>Chemfest is a event dedicated to celebrate and promote chemistry through various activities conducted to engage the interests of students in wonders of Chemistry. Miss M.Divya \u2013 III \u2013 B.Sc Chemistry student hosted and initiated the on stage and off stage activities. Off stage activities included Omnipresent Chemistry, Chem Rangoli and Poster Presentation and on stage activities included Chem Presentation, Chem Quiz and Chem Skit. Faculties of various disciplines were invited to judge the above activities. Prizes were distributed to Prize Winners by our Principal Madam Dr. V. Malarvizhi and our College Committee Members Dr. V. Mahalakshmi Natchathiram &amp; Dr.V.Kavitha and Dr.K.Anbarasi.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t<style type=\"text\/css\">\n\t\t\t#gallery-1 {\n\t\t\t\tmargin: tabindex=\"0\">INDUSTRIAL VISIT  2025 -2026<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-8172\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-8172\"><p style=\"text-align: left;\">Our department of chemistry has arranged an profound industrial visit to the final year students to a pharmaceutical company-Madras pharma located in Chennai. A bus with a capacity of 60 was booked from Lotus tourism travels. We departed the college on 8th of February, 2025 with three faculty members of Dr.M.Chitra, Assistant Professor and Head, Dr.C.Revathi, Assistant Professor, Dr. K. Anusuyadevi, Assistant Professor and Mr. Anandh, lab assistant along with 42 students at 9:00 am. The pharmaceutical company-Madras pharma was started in the year 1979 and it is expanded to 7 manufacture sites till date. The company specializes on the production of medicines in the form of tablets such as such as Ibuprofen, Paracetamol tablets, Glucosamine HCI, syrup and ointments. The human resource team of the company headed by Dr. Riyaz has allotted employees of different sectors from quality control and production unit as an instructor to explain the basic principles of the production and detailed on the chromatographic techniques. The team articulated the working procedure of the manufacturing unit and also insists on the importance of maintaining hygiene of the place. The students were exposed to various apparatus and equipment which they had studied only in textual books. Additionally, one of the instructors have shared his career journey and the value of joining a pharma company after an undergraduate degree. He has also emphasized the importance of pursuing a master degree to get a job opportunity in the pharma industry with better package. Thus the industrial visit has not only enriched the knowledge of the students about the production of the company but also it has been a great experience for them to witness the production. As the students have already studied pharmaceutical chemistry as a part of their curriculum and in Naan Mudhalvan, the visit allowed them to correlate what they have studied with real world practices. aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-8174\"><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The students association of department of chemistry has conduct their <strong><em>CHEMFEST &#8211; \u00a02024 on 24<sup>th<\/sup> February 2024<\/em><\/strong> at <strong><em>seminar hall<\/em><\/strong> between <strong><em>10.00 AM to 2.00 PM<\/em><\/strong>. Dr. M. Chitra, HOD, Department of Chemistry was the Convenor; Dr. S. Ananda Priya and Dr. G. Vimala, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry was the Co-ordinator of the event. The students association organised various inter-class competition for all the three year students on the following events,<\/p><ol><li><strong>Paper Presentation on the topics<\/strong><\/li><\/ol><ul><li>Role of chemistry in daily life<\/li><li>Medicinal chemistry<\/li><li>Polymers everyday and everywhere<\/li><li>Food chemistry<\/li><li>Electrochemistry<\/li><\/ul><ol start=\"2\"><li><strong>Chem Reels on the topics<\/strong><\/li><\/ol><ul><li>Chemistry of carbohydrates<\/li><li>Analytical techniques<\/li><li>Thermodynamics<\/li><li>Co-ordination chemistry<\/li><li>Dairy chemistry<\/li><\/ul><ol start=\"3\"><li><strong>Chem Poster<\/strong><\/li><li><strong> Chem Drama on the topics<\/strong><ul><li>Chemistry laboratory safety<\/li><li>Cosmetic chemistry<\/li><li>Environmental chemistry<\/li><li>Industrial chemistry<\/li><li>Pesticide chemistry<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The information brochure about Chemfest &#8211; 2024 was circulated to the students and interested students were informed to register for the event. The event started by 10 o\u2019clock with Tamilthai vazthu followed by Chellammal thuthi, welcome address was given by Dr. M. Chitra, HOD\/Chemistry and our Principal Dr. V. Malarvizhi delivered presidential address to the students. The various events were held and judged the events by Our Principal Dr. V. Malarvizhi, Dr. K. Anbarasi, Dr. M.S. Sumathi, Dr. S. Kanimozhi, Dr. S. Susa, Dr. S. Shymaladevi, Dr. V.S. Lakshme Priyaa and Dr.J.Madhuvanthi. The prizes were distributed to students by our Principal Dr. V. Malarvizhi. The vote of thanks was proposed by the third year student Ms. K. Manonmani, HR, Solara Active Pharma Sciences to visit Solara on 20\/02\/24 for third B.Sc. Chemistry students of total strength 50 students and four faculty members on 29<sup>th<\/sup> February 2024. We received reply from <strong>Ms. A. Manonmani (HR)<\/strong> and Mr. B. Daniel granting permission on 22\/02\/2024. On 29\/02\/2024, 50 students and four faculty members Dr. M. Chitra(HOD), Dr. S. Ananda Priya, Dr. G. Vimala and Dr. K. Deepa of Chemistry Department assembled in Solara by 9.30 am.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The students were assembled at conference hall by <strong>Mr. B. Daniel<\/strong>, HR for a presentation about vision and mission of Solara active pharma sciences. <strong>Dr. Rajkumar<\/strong> explained about the safety measures should be followed in the Solara. <strong>Dr. Rajesh Vyas<\/strong>, General Manager, R&amp; D elaborated the following topics viz., Flow Chemistry, Chiral Chemistry including Induction\/ Kinetic Resolution, Polymer Chemistry Sequestering Agents, High-potent API\/ Intermediates etc.,<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The students were then divided into four teams with one team comprising of 17 students and one faculty members. This industrial visit was helpful to the students in understanding the different manufacturing processes and procedures, various industrial scale equipment\u2019s used to produce active pharma ingredient. The chief guest\u2019s achievements are elaborated to the students by Dr.C.Revathi, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The chief guest, Dr.T.M.Sridhar, gave a detailed lecture on the instrumentation, sampling methodologies, recording of spectrum, purpose and advantages of that technique over normal analysis of UV- Vis spectroscopy and IR spectroscopy.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He brought cuvette from his lab which is\u00a0 used in UV &#8211; Vis spectroscopy,\u00a0 made all the students to touch and feel and explained about it. The transparent side and opaque side of it and their purpose also he explained to the students. The out put of\u00a0 this spectrum, how to interpret, to process the data all he clearly explained to the students. Types of electron available in molecules, their transition, energy levels, broad spectrum everything he detailed to the students.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He is not limited his lecture\u00a0 up to that but also extended to its uses in medical field, how to do kinetic study using UV- Vis spectra and identification of functional group using IR. Further he has given lecture on comparative study of IR and Raman spectroscopy.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Students interacted with the speaker regarding the topic and clarified their doubts.
