The College achieved a <strong>score of 100\/100<\/strong>, successfully fulfilling all <strong>sixteen evaluation criteria <\/strong>prescribed for the award.<\/h4><h4>The award was presented by <strong>Hon&#8217;ble Minister Thiru. Thangam Thenarasu<\/strong>, Minister of Finance and Environment, Government of Tamil Nadu, Government of Tamil Nadu, Tmt. Supriya Sahu, I.A.S., Additional Chief Secretary to Government Environment, Climate Change and Forests Department, Government of Tamil Nadu and Dr. M. Jayanthi, I.F.S., Chairperson, Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board at the <strong>Manjappai Award Ceremony 2026 <\/strong>held on <strong>6<\/strong><strong>th March 2026 <\/strong>at the Tamil Nadu Secretariat. <strong>Prof. Dr. V. Malarvizhi, <\/strong>Principal of Chellammal Women\u2019s College, and <strong>Dr. G. Vimala<\/strong>, Eco Club Coordinator, received the award on behalf of the institution for their exemplary contribution in implementing ban on single use plastics and encouraging the use of eco-friendly alternatives in the campus. The achievement reflects the dedicated efforts of the Eco Club and Swachhata Action Plan (SAP) committee, led by Dr. V. Malarvizhi as Chairperson and coordinated by Dr. G. The award was received by the Principal <strong>Prof. Dr. V. Malarvizhi <\/strong>along with the Coordinator <strong>Dr. S. Susa<\/strong>, and the <strong>Eco Club Committee members <\/strong>which was presented by the Chennai District Collector on <strong>15<\/strong><strong>th <\/strong><strong>August 2025 <\/strong>at the Chennai Collectorate Office, during the 79<sup>th<\/sup> Independence Day celebrations, in recognition of the Institution\u2019s consistent sustainable development practices and meaningful community engagement.<\/h4><h4>The College was selected from 35 shortlisted applicants representing educational institutions, individuals, non-governmental organisations, and industries across Chennai district for exemplary contribution in the field of environmental protection and awareness. The success of this initiative is attributed to the visionary and dynamic leadership of <strong>Prof. Dr. V. Malarvizhi<\/strong>, Principal of Chellammal Women\u2019s College.
