Action Plan and activities of the IQAC for the Year

2014-2015

To Step up the quality of education offered to the students by incorporating the use of technology along with implementation of effective teaching strategies.
To assess the necessities of students by identifying their areas of weaknesses and strengths and planning effective remedial classes, guest lectures, workshops and seminars for them.
To improve the infrastructure of the college
Seminars conducted by various Departments separately and in collaboration with other departments.
Training programmes on soft skills, Personality Development, yoga, sports for students conducted by the College to help in their curricular work as well as to prepare them to face interviews for Placement, SEBI’s seminar on certificate courses in finance; LIC’s job opportunities in insurance, skill solutions on medical transcriptions were also conducted.
Senior Teachers’ contribution to academics and administration as members of various committees representing the university.
Association activities for students conducted through interclass competitions and workshops.
West Block was renovated accommodating 12 class rooms with required infrastructure.

2015 – 2016

Two day Bridge course in English for all fresher’s and remedial teaching for Communicative English and Grammar held.

International Conference conducted by the Tamil Department on 27/02/2016

Inner wheel club conducted Ebola awareness program and RYLA conducted awareness on Global Warming for students.
Teachers and Students were exposed to refresher courses, seminars and workshops. and guest Lecturers  were invited  to the Depts of  Economics, Chemistry and English and Tamil in Shift I and Computer Science, Corporate Secretaryship Shift II.
Global adjustment conducted 5 days workshop on soft skills.
Students were encouraged to take part in all activities conducted by the college, in collaboration with other oganisations and also to represent the college in other places.
Flood hit College devastated.12 Departments (Shift I and Shift II) suffered immense losses. All Books in Dept Libraries, handwritten and stored files in Department’s computers lost.The immense task of restoring the infrastructure took some time.

2016-2017

Department of Computer Science [ Shift – II ]

Workshop on “ANDROID DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP” conducted by Uniq Technologies on 21/9/17.

Seminar on “LOGO DESIGN, GRAPHICS AND WEB DESIGNING” conducted by Arena Animation on 5/10/17.

Cultural activities, Student training programmes were conducted by various organisations for students  and placement Cell was active.
Redington academy trained 56 students and awarded scholarship of Rs.10,000 each to 9 students.

The primary task for the IQAC and all other committees of the College was the successful restoration of the buildings and classrooms, electrical apparatus including generators. Physics and Botany labs remodified. Computers were made available to each department. Lost Books and records accounted for, Wi fi Connections given to each building.
Teachers and Students were exposed to seminars and workshops and guest Lectures in the various departments.

Department of Zoology [ Shift – I ]

State-Level Workshop on “BIO-INSTRUMENTATION & MOLECULAR TECHNIQUES ” by LTRC 11/10/17 and 12/10/17
Internship Programme conducted by Chennai online Journalist Mrs.Usha Raja for MA English [ Shift – II ]  students and Training Programmes for Personality Development for all departments.
Students of M.Com and BCS were sent for internship training as part of their curriculam to various companies.
Yoga training continues also as in the previous years for our students.
Student participation in all activities of the college and participation in programmes conducted by other colleges, governmental and non-governmental agencies inside and outside encouraged.
New Handball and Basketball Court set up in the College. For the Basketball Court cement flooring was done and movable post purchased out of UGC sanctioned fund was erected.

2017-2018

Seminars were conducted in the departments of Chemistry, Zoology and Tamil-Shift I and in the departments of Computer Science and B.Com CS – Shift II. Department of Computer Science Shift II conducted seminars on ‘Trends in Emerging Technologies’ and ‘Virtual Reality’.
Workshops were conducted by the department of Zoology of on ‘Bio – Instrumentation and Molecular Techniques’ and by department of Commerce Shift I on ‘GST’, Workshop on ‘Android development using Technology’ by Shift II Computer Science. ‘Inspire Maths’ was conducted by department of Mathematics.  Shift I Tamil conducted workshop on ‘Palm leaf manuscript studies’.
Association activities of Chemistry ‘Chemfest’ and ‘Zoofest Biome-18’ by department of Zoology and Literary association of the department of English.
NSS, YRC, RRC conducted various awareness programmes relating to health, Women’s Education. NSS special camp conducted at Vandavaasi.  Rotaract Club of Raja Anamalaipuram and Nanganallur conducted various awareness and social outreach programs.
Students were active at all Sports and games winning prizes at Inter Zonal, State level, University level and National level.
254 students were placed in companies like Capgemini, Sutherland Global services, Tidel innovations private limited, HDB Financial Services and GMP Technologies. Redington Academy trained students in the CSR activity classes and gave scholarships to ten students.
Training was given to 40 students for CA-CPT by MT Educare. Scholarships of Rs.22,000/-given to 40 students.
Library E-Resource center is made functional.
21 Staff Members from the departments of Zoology, Tamil, English, Chemistry and History attended refresher and orientation courses at various universities.  Papers were presented by staff members at seminars, journal articles were published.
Infrastructure development – Basket court with concrete flooring and portable stands made functional.
Repairs and renovations carried out in Zoology, Botany, Chemistry and Physics laboratories.
White washing and other renovations done in Balambal and Munusamy block and Auditorium.
Departments furnished with Computers, printers, cupboards, table top glass, mosquito nets. Fire extinguishers installed in 4 places in college.
Yoga training for first year students continues as in previous years. Students of M.Com, M.A & B.C.S sent for internship as per the syllabus requirement.
